NVQs
An NVQ is a National Vocational Qualification. It is a work-based qualification designed to measure competence in a professional role.
NVQ's are different from traditionally taught courses as they require you to show what you currently do and how you have the underpinning knowledge necessary to do your work, as opposed to teaching and testing you on new knowledge. To prove their competence, candidates collect evidence from their workplace according to the National Occupational Standard (NOS) of the NVQ.
If you are a CSkills Levy Payer, grant maybe available to you for your NVQ qualifications.
Visit the CSkills Website for full details.
OSAT
The On-Site Assessment and Training (OSAT) programme was launched in 2003 as a fast-track route to nationally recognised qualifications such as NVQ's. The whole process is carried out whilst your workforce is on site so they don't have to take time off to go to college.
OSAT helps experienced workers get the qualifications to prove they can do the job. It turns their existing skills and experience into a nationally recognised qualification which in turn helps qualify them for a Construction Skills Certification Scheme card. (CSCS)
