CSCS Cards
Construction is ever expanding making it one of the largest industries in the UK, but also one of the most dangerous. Every month approximately 340 people around the country are injured on site, 6 of these turn out to be fatal. A Major Contractors Group recognised these risks and introduced The Construction Skills Certification Scheme card, in conjunction with the Government. It aims to ensure all construction workers have a recognised level of health and safety competence.
CSCS Safety Awareness
This is a half day course is intended to develop an understanding of construction health and safety for various occupations working in the industry and to enable them to improve their chances of passing the mandatory health and safety knowledge test, should the delegates wish to register under the CSCS Scheme.

Risk Assesment
Workers in the construction industry are SIX times more likely to be killed at work than other workers. A US study showed that companies that tested workers and job applicants for drugs experienced a 51% reduction in injury rates within two years of implementing a drug testing programme. Often working away from home, construction workers are vulnerable to peer group pressure which may lead to the inappropriate use of drugs and alcohol.

This course aims to increase awareness of scaffolding techniques by providing knowledge of the skills needed to ensure a scaffold is correctly erected and maintained, along with identifying an individual’s responsibility to inspect scaffolding correctly and safely. In addition to this, the course provides details on working in compliance with the relevant laws, codes and practices.
Working at Heights
In the construction industry the biggest killer is a fall from height which is responsible for half the recorded deaths each year. Falls can cost an employer around £36,000 in terms of revenue loss, time and medical replacement costs. These damaging effects can be avoided by acquiring the necessary knowledge about working safely at heights, whilst taking precautions and reducing risks. This course is designed to provide this information to all operatives, supervisors and managers who are working at heights or on roofs.
